Future pacing is the virtual reality check on your outcome.

Future pacing has four functions:

  1. As an ecology check.
  2. As a test that the change will really work.
  3. As a mental rehearsal of your desired outcome.
  4. As a way of generalizing the lessons you have learned, taking them into the real world.

Mental Rehearsal Principles

  • Start from your goal.
  • Focus on the process, not the result.
  • Be specific.
  • See, hear and feel perfection.
  • Use all the senses.
  • Relax.
  • Practice.
