Future pacing is the virtual reality check on your outcome.
Future pacing has four functions:
- As an ecology check.
- As a test that the change will really work.
- As a mental rehearsal of your desired outcome.
- As a way of generalizing the lessons you have learned, taking them into the real world.
Mental Rehearsal Principles
- Start from your goal.
- Focus on the process, not the result.
- Be specific.
- See, hear and feel perfection.
- Use all the senses.
- Relax.
- Practice.
